“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
Most people quote this verse like it’s a promise of immediate blessing. It’s not. It was spoken to people in captivity, people who were living in the consequences of disobedience, in a season they didn’t choose, and couldn’t escape quickly.
That changes everything.
God didn’t say, “I’ll get you out tomorrow.” He said, “I still have a plan.”
That’s where most people miss it. We trust God when things are going well, but question Him when life slows down, breaks down, or doesn’t go our way. But this verse was never about comfort, it was about confidence in God’s character when circumstances say otherwise.
God’s thoughts toward you are not reactionary. They are intentional. He is not scrambling to fix your life, He is executing a plan.
Even in discipline.
Even in delay.
Even in seasons where nothing feels like it’s moving.
The truth is, if you only trust God when you understand what He’s doing, you don’t trust God, you trust outcomes.
Real faith is built when you stay obedient in the middle of a season that doesn’t make sense, believing that the same God who allowed the season is also controlling the outcome.
God’s plan is not just about where you end up, it’s about who you become on the way there.
So the question isn’t, “Why am I here?”
The better question is, “Who is God shaping me into while I’m here?”
Challenge
Stop waiting for clarity before you trust God.
Be faithful in what He has already put in front of you, today.
Trust His process, not just His promises.
Prayer
Lord, help me trust You when I don’t understand what You’re doing. Strengthen my faith in the middle of difficult seasons. Keep me obedient, disciplined, and focused on who You are shaping me to be. I trust that Your plan is good, even when it doesn’t feel that way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
