Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

There are moments in life when we want to start over…
But in Christ, we don’t just start over, we become someone new.

Paul doesn’t say God cleans you up, patches a few holes, or polishes the rough edges. He says you become a new creature, a creation that did not exist before grace touched your life. The old you, the shame, the failures, the sin, the patterns, the guilt, the identity shaped by wounds, is passed away.

That doesn’t mean you forget your past. It means your past no longer defines you.

Grace does.

When Christ enters a life, He doesn’t ask the old man to try harder; He calls the old man dead and brings a new man into existence by the power of the Holy Spirit. Transformation is not behavior modification. It is identity resurrection. The Holy Spirit doesn’t just break chains; He builds new desires, new strength, new wisdom, and a new direction.

Some days that “new creature” feels bold and free.
Other days it feels like the old you is trying to rise again.

But here is the thing: Your identity is not measured by your struggle… but by your Savior.

You are not who you used to be.
You are not what you did.
You are not what they said.
You are not the mistakes that tried to bury you.

Because the God who makes all things new has spoken a better word over your life.

Today, walk in the truth that the “new you” is not fragile.
It is Spirit-built, blood-bought, and grace-sustained.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for making me new.
Help me walk in the identity You purchased for me.
Let the old things truly stay behind me,
and let the new life You’ve placed within me shine in everything I do.
Amen.

Application for Today
  • Identify one “old thing” you keep carrying. Release it to God in prayer.
  • Speak one truth over yourself that aligns with your new identity in Christ.
  • Walk today as someone redeemed, renewed, and loved.
